You can, but Google Drive can't tell you which investors opened your PDFs, how long they spent, or what they wanted to know, and investors can't ask it questions. Use Drive to store and collaborate on files; use an AI data room like DataRooms to share them with investors.

Why founders start with Google Drive
It's free, everyone has it, and sharing a folder takes a minute. For collecting documents from your co-founders, lawyer and accountant, Drive is hard to beat.
Where Drive falls short as a data room
The problems start once you send the folder to investors:
- You can't see who is interested. Google's Activity dashboard only covers Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, and only shows viewers inside your own Workspace domain. Investors are outside your domain, and most data room files are PDFs, so in practice you see nothing.
- Investors can't ask questions. Every question becomes an email, and momentum stalls while they wait for your reply.
- Links travel. A folder shared with "anyone with the link" can be forwarded, and you won't know.
- It looks like a folder. Investors see a file list, not a structured story.

Can I see who viewed my Google Drive files?
Only partly. Google's Activity dashboard shows viewers of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, and only people in your own Workspace domain. It does not show external viewers such as investors, and it does not cover PDFs or other uploaded files.
Is Google Drive secure enough for a data room?
Drive has solid access controls for named people, and you can block downloads for viewers. The gaps for fundraising are visibility (you can't see which investors read what) and forwarding (an 'anyone with the link' folder can be passed on without you knowing).
